The 2024 to 2025 ACU Southern Centre Winter Series has concluded it’s tenth season of racing, with new winners and classes, here is a recap of the action.

In the championship class consistency proved key with last year’s Expert Winner Josh Lawer showing that he knows how to win championships, gaining a 15-point lead on the rest of the class to become this season’s Champion of Champions. In second place was Bradley King who bounced back from an early season elbow injury to win the last Round at Manor Farm. In third place was Ricky Wiggins with a win at both rounds he attended.

In the Expert class there was a tight battle between Ollie Heard and Daryl Biles with just 4 points separating the pair after 5 rounds. Ollie Heard finished victorious with Daryl in second place for the series! Third place was consistent Jordan Kiff.

In the Expert vet’s class, Gary McCoy dominated with three wins giving him a near perfect score of 79points. In second place was Jack Twentyman with Adrian Heard scoring strongly at the middle two rounds to finish in third place.

This season there were many new riders from all over the country which was really great to see. One of these riders was Frazer Lawrence from the far east of England, competing in the clubman A class for the first time. Frazer had a great season and finished as Clubman A Champion. In second place was Elliot Picard who has made quick progress up through the classes. Only three points behind in third was Jack Shiner.

In the clubman Vets class Alex Lamble had a perfect season with four wins for a top score of 80 points. In second place was Mike Brown who had a very consistent season scoring good points throughout. In third place was early season high scorer Huw Williams who was tied with Nicholas Lee.

Luke Haggarty was the clubman B class champion with one win and three seconds. Jayden Wheeler also had a consistent season to finish in second place. Adam McCarthy performed well at the few last races of the season to take third in the series.

The Sportsman Vets class winner was Tim Mathers who won four of the five rounds securing top points. Close behind on seventy-five points was Jorden Pontin finishing in second. Andy Pennel kept it smooth finishing in third for the season.

Another high scoring group was the Sportsman class with Henry Walsh taking the top spot with seventy-seven points. Just two points behind in Second place was Ty Maytom Jones, who started the season strong with an early win. In third place was Henry Warren showing great progress with each event.

This season had the addition of a Youth class to accommodate riders from the age of 14 . We were so pleased to have fourteen different riders take part over the season and they all did amazingly, with many of them competing for the first time. The inaugural winner of the Youth class was Geroge Ward, he is a rider to watch, winning four rounds and scoring maximum points for the series. Close behind in second place was Louie Maytom-Yalland who braved a wet day at Woodberry Lane and won that round. Finishing up in third place was Bradley Ball.

Thank you to all the riders for supporting the series, there were some challenges with a venue loss and hurricane like weather, so we appreciate everyone who attended. A big thank you to Monsters of Dirt for Sponsoring the series number stickers. Also thank you to Pete, Craig and Shane for timing and scrutineering, as well as the many volunteers and marshals at every event. They keep the series running.
